Turning your passion into a career is the ultimate lifestyle goal – and having that career open up a whole heap of travel options is even better in our opinion.

Scuba diving is arguably one of the best travel careers available – with literally thousands of dive schools spanning the globe you’re only limited by the type of location your prefer!

Whether you want to be based in the sun exploring vast coral reefs, on dive boats living remotely offshore or closer to home there’s somewhere to suit every taste.

And that’s where our dive master courses come into play. Becoming a dive master is the first step into the professional scuba dive world and whether you choose a PADI dive master course or SSI both will quite literally open up a world of work.

Koh Phi Phi on the west coast of Thailand is one of our favorite locations to dive – in fact some of the Epic Gap Year team took some of our scuba dive courses there and we loved it. The mixture of warm waters, variety of marine life and of course laid back beach life on the beautiful island itself creates the perfect base to take the plunge (no pun intended!) into a professional dive career.

Our epic suppliers on Phi Phi run a fully 5* accredited dive centre with a variety of PADI Divemaster course options, so no matter what your time and money budget there’s an option to suit.

Whichever option you choose you’re in good hands as our suppliers have been established on Phi Phi for over 20 years and have a great dive team from all around the globe who have been awarded the ‘Outstanding Contribution To Professional Diver Education’ by PADI.

Throughout the divemaster course you’ll be taught in open water, confined water and classroom situations as well as through independent studies, allowing you to develop your skills and become a confident and experienced diver.

“I was so hooked on my dive master course I’ve now made it to instructor!”
Ally, UK

You’ll complete water skills and stamina exercises, as well as training exercises that stretch your ability to organize and solve problems as well as help others improve their scuba.

This knowledge will then be put into action both through the internship options and series of practical training exercises.

As you progress through your Divemaster course, you’ll expand your diving knowledge, hone your skills and increase your confidence. Then, as a PADI Divemaster, you’ll use these attributes to lead, mentor and motivate other divers and experience the joy of seeing them transformed by the majesty of the aquatic realm.

Overall no matter what option you choose Phi Phi provides a great base to take your diving to the next level and enter the world of professional diving.

You may choose to stay on this beautiful island and find work as a diver for the season or you may choose to bounce elsewhere to sample some different dive sites or take the next step and go onto doing your instructor training course.

Either way you’ll finish with an epic new certification, an open door into a new career choice, heaps of logged dives and memories of a great experience with many new found friends.
